The Heavy Pets are an American Rock & Roll Band. Once called “a living, breathing, force of nature” by Dan Sweeny of Relix magazine, the Pets are known for catchy tunes and powerhouse performances spiked with hot electric licks and multi-climactic instrumental solos.
In 2007, the group became an instant Sirius radio sensation with the release of their acclaimed double-disc debut album, Whale, driven by hit tracks “Operation of Flight” and “Sleep.” The popularity of these tunes catapulted the Pets to major festivals nationwide, from High Sierra Festival to Bonnaroo, from Gathering of the Vibes to Langerado.
With five skilled musicians who are also composers and lyricists, The Heavy Pets have amassed a deep catalog of original music that critics call, “full blown musical salvation”; “elegant songwriting with blazing chops, thought-provoking lyrics and a heavy, danceable backbeat”; “funk-reggae rock hybrid that’s laid back and sexy”; and “funky, loose-limbed rock and soul.”
They were first embraced in the jam scene for their raw talent and tenacious commitment to making great music. But like their unmistakable sound, The Heavy Pets themselves have transcended boundaries, crossing a bridge few bands survive intact – into the still-respected periphery of pop music through upbeat, danceable, homegrown, skillfully executed tunes, and passionate live shows that keep crowds lining up for more.

Alycat

AlyCat is kind of a big deal…in a Funk/Rock/Electro kind of way. The band emerged onto the Philadelphia scene in full effect in 2011 carrying an infectious new sound. AlyCat’s unique new fusion of dance beats with solid songs is what sets them apart from other jam bands. The music is a hybrid of electronic and organic instruments infused with dance beats and funky bass. The forceful gospal-like vocals will hypnotize you with sweet harmonies and provoking lyrics. AlyCat’s first full length release “Cat Lady” will be released in April 2013. The band members individually have toured throughout the United Sates with everyone from David Bromberg to The Roots and have performed at legendary venues such as The Fillmore West, The Great American Music Hall, Stone Pony, World Café Live, the Queen Theater, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Levon Helm’s Ramble Sessions in Woodstock, and many more. Some of their heavy influences include: Stevie Wonder, Nikka Costa, N’Dea Davenport, Aretha Franklin, Stuart Zender, Mike Gordon, Bootsy Collins and James Jamerson.
